On foot, by bike or on horseback

It’s a pleasure to explore the Val di Cornia leaving behind your car: you go on horse rides on the beach, in the pine groves or on the hills; you can takes trip by bike or on foot deep in nature and surrounded by enchanting scenery, suspended between hills and sea. Walking in the archaeological park of Populonia means seeing what the ancient Etruscans saw: the paths that twist through the woods glistening with iron slag; the blue sea of the Baratti Gulf and the ancient village of Populonia create a natural background.

Every year new paths are opened and signposted in the woods, on the hills and along the coast for trekking, horse-riding and mountain biking. From San Vincenzo begin the green path (with some slightly challenging sections) and the yellow path (not very difficult and suitable for everyone). Many of the footpaths even have charming names: do you want to start from the Via del Ferro, Monastero, Romanella or the Cave?

Horse Riding

The Costa degli Etruschi offers different possibilities to people who love discovering the land on horseback. There are the stables of Guado al Tasso at Bolgheri, within the estate of Marquises of Antinori, surrounded by the famous vineyards extending down to the sea. The agriturismo “gli Etruschi” organises delightful rides on Baratti beach. The horse riding centre “il Felciaino e la Carrozza” between Campiglia and Suvereto offers the possibility of rides on the Tuscan hills with beautiful views over the islands and the sea.
